Reply: Long term use of the diet can certainly be healthy as long as there is sufficient nutrition supplementation and medical monitoring. Bone health is one of the major concerns with long term use. Typically the diet is made more liberal with long term use (greater than 3 years) allowing more protein and carbohydrate, less fat and therefore lower ketosis.
